The global oils and fats market in 2017 was one that saw improvements in the production across all types of oils and fats. The El-Nino in2016 which carried onward to the early part of 2017 initially affected production of oils and fats especially palm oil. However, in the second half of 2017, there was a marked improvement of production of palm oil. The peak production period which was usually between May to September saw the peak production period extended until November where record high production was achieved. No one could have ever foreseen this development, not even among the most prominent of all analysts.
